Cheonggyecheon is an 11-kilometer public stream in downtown Seoul. Restored in 2005 from an old highway into an eco-friendly park, it serves as a peaceful urban sanctuary. Visitors can stroll along the waterfront, enjoy the waterfalls, and cross charming stone bridges.
Held annually from December through January, this iconic winter festival ‘The Seoul Lantern Festival’ transforms Cheonggyecheon into a glittering river of light. It showcases hundreds of massive lanterns made from traditional Korean paper (hanji), alongside modern LED art. Displays range from Korean folklore to contemporary characters, beautifully illuminating the water.
